Description of Tuguegarao City
Tuguegarao City is a first class city in Cagayan, Philippines. It is the Capital City of Cagayan and the Regional Capital of Region 2, & is the place of the provincial & regional gov’t. offices.
It is set on a peninsula in the Cagayan Valley. It is sheltered by the Sierra Madre Mountains in the East; Cordilleras in the West; and, the Caraballo Mountains in the South. It grew on the banks of the Cagayan River & the Pinacanauan River, near the southern bound of the state.
The latest population is 129,539 as of the 2007 Census. Most people are Ybanags, Ilocanos, Tagalogs, Itawis, Pampangos & other ethniticities. Some are also of Chinese and Hindu blood.
The primary occupation of the people is farming, and the primary crops are rice, corn, tobacco and peanuts.
