Description of Bulusan Lake
Lake Bulusan is a lake on Luzon in the Philippines. It dwells at the heart of Bulusan Volcano National Park which covers a land area of 3,672 hectares. It has an elevation of 360 meters & is set on the southeast flank of Mount Bulusan, an active volcano. Bulusan Lake is formed by tectonic damming and perhaps another crater of a volcano. Its water is greenish and its waterbed is rocky and sandy & parts are muddy.
The eastern crest, now a rugged mound, is probably the remains of a vast, high, circular crater. The bell-shaped western summit is still active. It has had about thirty major eruptions since 1852, though none is identified to have made casualties. A mild eruption took place in 1983, and tremors recurred in 1984. The volcano, whose slopes form a 37 square-km national park, serves as a landmark for sailors approaching the San Bernardino Strait, since it’s accessible from almost 100 km when the weather is fair.
