Ito ay isang kwento kung saan lahat ng tao noon ay namamahay sa ulap at may roon silang tinatawag na datu isang araw nagkaroon ng karamdaman ang anak ng datu at kailangan na itong mapagaling at ang tanging makagagaling dito ay ang puno ng balite. Nang tumawag ng pulang ang datu at ang manggagamot ay inutos nila na dalhin ang prinsesa sa puno ng balite, ngunit biglang bumuka ang ulap at nalagkag ang prinsesa at siya’y tinulungan ng ibat-ibang hayop.

Punta Cruz Watch Tower

Description of Punta Cruz Watch Tower

The watch tower in Punta Cruz, Maribojoc town is located 14 km from Tagbilaran City and is made of rock. A wooden cross is set in a slightly indented area in front of the tower. According to legend, the cross has been enchanted with a mysterious spell that had delivered many people from the ravages of pirates. The cross is said to extend its arms to the sea, preventing marauders. The tower, which has windows that overlook nearby islands Cebu and Siquijor and the Mindanao Sea, served as a lookout for pirates.

The Punta Cruz Watch Tower is one of the old and beautiful architectural speciment that was built in the 18th century by the Spaniards.This watchtower has a triangular-shaped figure colonial architecture.

Punta Cruz Watch Tower allows an excellent view. This is a historic place in Bohol Philippines where it draws visitors who want to visit historical places in the Philippines.

To get there, take a bus at the Tagbilaran Integrated Bus Terminal in Dao. Most busses are going in to Tubigon will pass along Punta Cruz. Ask the driver to drop you off at Punta Cruz, and walk down for about 500 ms to the watch tower.

Kinampay Festival

The Kinampay or Ubi-kinampay is a specific variety of ube which is found generally in Bohol, Philippines. It is the symbol of the Province of Bohol as the provincial plant. In Bohol province, the ubi-kinampay is considered valuable and is venerated. A specific tradition is that people kiss the “ubi” every time it falls down to the ground as a sign of fear. To a Boholano, there is always a story to tell about the ube. It is the only staple food included in the Bohol hymn Awit sa Bohol.


An Ubi Festival is celebrated in January every year in Bohol. Ubi growers and enthusiasts from other ubi-growing provinces as well as local growers were asked for to attend. The 1st national symposium was held in VISCA, Baybay, Leyte.

Sandugo Festival

The Sandugo festival is a yearly historical celebration that takes place every year in Tagbilaran City on the island of Bohol in the Philippines. This festival commemorates the Treaty of Friendship between Datu Sikatuna, a chieftain in Bohol, & Spanish conquistador Miguel L√≥pez de Legazpi. This 16th Century peace treaty happened on Mar. 16, 1565 through a blood compact or “sandugo“.


The feast is held every July. The Tagbilaran City Charter Day on July 1 kicks-off the month-long festival w/ a holy mass, diana, motorcade & program sponsored by the City Government of Tagbilaran. Among the major activities during the month is the Miss Bohol Sandugo Beauty Pageant, & the Sandugo Street Dancing Competition which is usually held on the 3rd or 4th Sunday of July, & organized by the Bohol Sandugo Foundation, Inc. (BSFI).

Chocolate Hills

The Chocolate Hills are a famous tourist attraction of Bohol. They are featured in the provincial flag & seal to symbolize the abundance of natural attractions in the province. They are in the Philippine Tourism Authority’s list of tourist destinations in the Philippines. They have been stated the country’s 3rd National Geological Monument & proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The national government has chosen the Chocolate Hills as one of its “flagship tourist destinations”. The Chocolate Hills Complex has a restaurant, hostel with swimming pool & an observation deck where one could view and even count the hills at the view deck 210 ft or 64 m above the ground. There are a total of 214 steps leading to the observation or view deck. Here one can look at the landscape that is covered with more than a thousand Chocolate Hills. The Chocolate Hills Complex is composed of 2 hills developed into a resort. An observation deck on the higher hill offers a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding area.


The Chocolate Hills are an unique geological formation in Bohol, Philippines. According to the latest accurate survey done, there are 1,776 hills spread over an area of more than 50 square kilometres or 20 sq miles. They are covered in green grass that becomes brown during the dry season.
